Teen Yoga & Mindfulness with Ali
now Isn’t it about time we did something about this?
And what better way to do this, than in a natural healthy and proven way through yoga. My teen yoga classes are built with teens in mind, to help them escape and detox from their stressful lives Being a teen is one of the most stressful periods in anyone's life and I'm here to help.
The Effect of Meditation & Mindfulness on Teens
Mindfulness is perhaps the most important part of my classes for teens. Mindfulness is a method for forgetting about your worries by focusing on, and only on the present moment in time. I explore multiple strategies with my students to help them make time for moments of mindfulness into their weekly routine to boost overall well-being.
Meditation and mindfulness both promote self esteem and positive mental health.
Meditation triggers neurotransmitters in the brain that ease anxiety and help combat psychological disorders like depression.
In my classes I explore unique and interesting methods of meditation, that can be done just about anywhere, and fit into any day, despite how hectic a schedule may be.
How Yoga affects Teens
My classes also include the practice of yoga and the asanas (postures) these are useful for young adults for a host of reasons.
Yoga helps young people with brain development and integration, coordination,
Breath work and learning to focus on your breath positively influences the development of the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for focusing, being organized and logical reasoning.
Practicing yoga helps build physical strength, balance and focus.
Yoga positively develops the amygdala, which encourages teens to better regulate their emotions and control how they are feeling .
Physical Exercise
My teen yoga classes are a form of exercise, something that with the distractions of technology, video games and on demand services, many UK teens just don't get enough of. Classes are adapted to the mood and ability of the students, sometimes gentle and nourishing, other times energetic and strenuous.
Yoga is something different for those teens that don't enjoy competitive sport, and helps those who do, to keep their muscles flexible and thus avoiding sports related injuries.
My classes offer a safe space for those who'd feel awkward and watched visiting a gym.
This safe space extends to those with psychological conditions which make them prone to anxiety in social settings.
